I have just recieved 4 African Giant Millipedes, (:I know, its a bug not a reptile that have little bugs running all over then and around in the coconut fiber bedding.  I have alot of experience with mites on snakes and iguanas but these are much different there a little bit bigger..

Any Ideas?

Yeah you might of wanted to put this in the invertabrate section. But anyways, I know very little of millipedes. You should keep them in a 5-10 gal. tank. Your coconut substrate is good because they like to burrow in it. i think they can drink from a sponge? I'm not sure. Go on google and search 'African Giant Millipededs'

I think the bugs came from the coconut bedding .
Answer these Questions
Did you clean or wash the coconut bedding?
Did you freeze the coconut bedding?
Did you check the coconut bedding for insects?

The little bugs are actually mites.  Millipedes always have them, so don't worry.  It is my understanding that they actually have a symbiotic relationship.  The mites actually clean the millipedes.  If there are too many mites for your comfort, you can wash some of them off with warm water.  But do not under any circumstances use any kind of mite killer to get rid of the mites.  It will kill your millipedes.

The mites feed on skin secretions found between the millipedes' exoskeletal plates.  Many larger (and smaller) inverts have these guys, and they are species-specific.  One species is commonly found on Madagascar hissing cockroaches as well.  They generally don't harm the invert and often do the animal a service.

Yep. Cleaner mites. They're weird and annoying to look at, but serve the millipede. I want a colony of millipedes one day.
