I'm not sure on what nutrient deficiency, lighting causes pyramiding.
But you should drive out to the countryside and release that box turtle back to the wild! They're under heavy pressure from over-collecting and we need all there can be in nature to survive.

Well, thas not going to happen. Hes got a very happy home in my backyard.....Where he probably would have lived anyway since I AM in the counrtyside....

But it will not be in the breeding population... may I ask what state you live in? I'm sorry, but people like you disgust me, taking endangered/threatened animals into their possession. If you want one, buy a captive bred one, and if you want to see one, just go looking for them and watch them in the wild. Please, release it for the sake of the species.

I didnt want to say anything for the sake of not getting into an argument but the above poster is right. Wild animals are wild animals, thats where they belong.
MY ANIMALS:
1.2.1 leopard geckos (Annie and Fred)

golden retriver/cocker spaniel mix (Sandy)

| I live in NC. Cant buy em because theyre OVER POPULATED HERE. I pull them out of the street all the time. Pulled a dead one off the street just yesterday. Yall can think whatever you want. He has a good home on an acre of land. Hes living just as well as he would in the wild, except now hes away from cars and animals. P.s Let me remind you of some previous posts youve made. “Anyone in more southern states heard any frogs calling, or caught any herps yet? I encourage everyone to take a picture of the first herp they caught, or say what species was heard calling, and post the picture here. It will be cool to see how many species we can get!”
“These ARE endangered turtles. Although there are many in captivity, there would be nothing wrong with starting captive colonies for the pet trade.” I would also like to note that eastern box turtles are not endangered. Ive done plenty of research. Thanks!
