Everything is awesome, but I really like snakes in the Mehelya genus. They are just...cool looking. Mehelya capensis is my favorite.

I envy you, Don. What would it take for me to join you on one of those trips?

Wow, so many pictures, they're all amazing, i especially liked the pics of the cape cobra, the mongoose, the shield nose snake playing dead, and all the pics of different people. looked like a really awsome trip...

Great stuff, Don! You're getting as good behind the camera as in front of it. Nice Fisk's house snake - possibly the best image of one I've seen yet. Bummer about the D.O.R. black Pseudaspis. Have you found them alive before? If so, what are they like temperament-wise right out of the wild?

There is a species of shield nose, called Aspidelaps scutatus fulafula, that we would love to have found. When we were in the habitat, the moon was full and ruined it. There are very few photos of these animals and they absolutely stunning.

OK, its been a while.

I headed to South Africa for almost three months, did 5 countries, 20 000 miles in a car, drove across Africa twice, saw many species and unique behaviors. These are some of the photos, the sheer volume of them is hard to get through, but as they come out, I will trickle them out

Countries visited South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Senegal. We were in spitting distance (< a few miles) of Namibia and Botswana, but did not see the benefit of crossing the border.

With me during this whole trip was, now regular travel mate, Devon Massyn. We spent many days and nights together and did very well. Shot Mate!!

I was in SA for a week with friends, then 20 days of eco tours, then around the cape, back to Johannesburg, into Swaziland, up to Zimbabwe, into Mozambique, through Swaziland to Durban, back to Johannesburg, fly to Dakar, and we chilled in a nice French villa just south of Dakar for 5 days.. needed a break

Sweet, i am going to south africa about 5 years from now. I am going to die waiting But that looks like a lot of fun. I would have been a little nevous,with mamba and also the two rhinos, but So the mamba would scare me more espeicailly if was in front of me

That must have been cool, but nerve-racking being that close to a mamba, the only snake in the world that can't deliver a dry bite. The rhino's in the back make it look even more african. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime.
