She never got used to the anoles that pervade patios and screen rooms in southern Florida with regularity, even with me around as her never-ending source of herp info. Naturally, I told her repeatedly that the anoles were harmless. I even stressed that they'd eat bugs that slipped in, but she never totally warmed up to them despite that. The funniest thing she used to do was spray Raid on them when they clung to the inside of her screens. Then she picked up the incapacitated lizards with a paper towel, tried to rinse the toxins off them at her kitchen sink, and then tossed the groggy lizards out the back door to freedom. I'll never know about their survival rate -- low, I'd expect after being saturated in poison -- but at least it made my aunt feel better for trying to save them because she didn't really hate the lizards, just wanted them gone from her home.

That's strange what your aunt did.LOL!

RE: Green Anole in my house

Back in the 1970s, my aunt moved near me in Florida after a lifetime in Delaware. Uv lights these days are very expensive. I would consider keeping my herps outside but i live in wisconson where the weather can turn from sunny and bright to dark with thunderstorm warning and tornado warnings all over tv in just 2 hours. Tell me if you ever find a glass lizard. I would love to catch one but they live just out of the range of milwakee.

RE: Green Anole in my house

I rarely catch the lizard and I don't keep them often.I need to change the leaves though because they turning brown. With my reptiles I must keep them outside because all my family exept my brother hate herps so I must keep then outside.I only have native lizards to my area so keeping them outside helps a little with all those lights.

RE: Green Anole in my house

I usually buy some crickets for the anoles I find and then release them. I don't have a large enough terrarium for them and I just end up feeling sorry for them. They are wild and I think deserve to be free to roam. But that is just my opinion.

RE: Green Anole in my house

Good thing you cought it before someone killed it. That would have been terribal. But anyway, are you going to relocate it away from peaple or are you going to keep it?

Green Anole in my house

Ok so I am about to go outside to check on my lizards and frogs. My dad and uncle are watching tv.My brother is eatting. My mom is about to go to the store and my grandma is in her room. All is peaceful. Then my mom,who is walking out the door to go to the store says to come over."Get it!Get that lizard!" she says.My family-besides my brother-hates reptiles.I look and see a Green Anole.I catch it and now it's in the tank with RainScale.I call her Lynn.I've heard of a House Gecko and I've heard of a Green Anole but not a House Anole

Please leave a comment.
