New snake owner and new to forums

Hi! I'm Charlotte, am 14 years old, and recently bought my own corn snake named Loki. He is about 3 years old, approximately 3 feet long, and is an amel. I got him on Monday night and he just shed last night/wee hours of the morning this morning. I knew he was about to shed when I got him, but it was super cool! Now that he has shed I am planning to actively handle him a little more. I have been vying for a snake for over a year and did a lot of research. My parents were hard to crack, especially my mom, but now she handles Loki more than anyone else (besides me)!

I will post some pictures later today, when I get home. I'm happy to be here :

I've been on the forums for a few weeks, but never formally introduced myself, so here i am. I am Colin, a 15 year old herper from CT, but lives in NC. I currently own three species of lizards, and have owned two others in the past. I am an active member of the local herp loving community, because im pretty much the whole thing :p, minus a few friends and a teacher. I got into the whole online community because of my magazine subscription. I hope to make many friends through the forums

Hey all. thought id take a few to say hi and introduce myself. i have cared for reptiles since i was twelve and have had an array of different animals. I aspire to be a herpetologist but its not cheap lol. See My signature for the reptiles i currently own. ill gather em up for some pics here shortly and give a proper introduction. Hello fellow herpers. My names Pete. Been keeping reptiles for 30 years, mostly snakes. Used to post on these boards a lot about 12 or so years ago. Stopped posting cause there were a number of members who did nothing but fight about un-reptile related nonsense. Hoping it's changed. Currently I have:
Male Ghost corn snake "Sammy" 16 years
Male Amel corn snake "#3" 14 years
Male Brooksi king snake "Biter" 6 years
Male Dumeril's boa "Hercules" 12 years
Female Childrens python "Princess" 3 years
I've rescued quite a few reptiles over the years, some that did great and found loving homes and some that were too far gone. Hope to hear about other's experiences and share the stories and the enjoyment we all get from our animals.

After a few years of being a snakeless man, the Easter bunny, (very brave of the little guy!), made a delivery of a baby ball to my SO. A number of years ago, he had a ball he rescued from the cold wild streets of Minnesota. Can you imagine someone let one loose to die there???!! He took it home, warmed it up, did lots of research and that was all it took. Another animal lover turned snake fan. Since he's been without for a few years, we are basically starting from scratch. Right now, Zeus, (the baby), is housed in a 10 gal tank with a uth, UVB light, coconut bark substrate and of course the requisite water dish and hides. We've been having a problem with the uth sticking to the bottom of the tank and thus making heat regulation an issue. Needless to say this is making us feel a little like newborn parents! You know, the waking up in the middle of the night to check on junior... Another trip to the store for a better and more reliable heating unit is definitely on the agenda as soon as they open up. A huge necessity since we live in an older, not so great insulated home in the northeast. Anyway just wanted to say hello

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site. I live in Arizona and have had an interest in reptiles, and animals in general, since I was very young. I've had personal experience keeping many different species, including: Kenyan Sand Boas, Amazon Tree Boas, Red Tail Boas, Dumeril's Ground Boa, Reticulated Pythons, Coastal Carpet Python, Jungle Carpet Pythons, Woma Pythons, Green Tree Python, False Water Cobra, Western Hognoses, Barons Racer, Corn Snakes, Blue Eyed Leucistic Texas Rat Snake, Savannah Monitor, Asian Water Monitor, Peach Throat Monitor, Red Tegu, Green Iguana, Yellow Saharan Uromastyx, Meller's Chameleon, Frilled Dragon, Crested Gecko, Asian Vine Snake and an African Spurred Tortoise to name a few.
As you can imagine, I've been forced to gradually downsize over the past few months to a more manageable level before I transfer over to ASU. Now, I just keep one of my breeder male Kenyan Sand Boas, my Savannah Monitor, Thor, two male Retics (Tiger- 5 feet and Platinum- 12 feet), my female Jungle Carpet Python, and my Yellow Saharan Uromastyx, Chewie.
I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you and seeing what you all keep at home!

... Always do your research before buying!
I actually own no herps, as I am just studying/obsessing until I buy. Before you ask, I'm fighting the ban that my parents have put on me that refrains me from getting a herp. Quite some progress actually. (I tell you, I'm a persistent and ambitious little bug!) Over the past few months, I've gone from "Maybe a lizard(No snakes!) when you get a job and get all A's..." to "So you can probably keep some frogs or lizards in the old terrarium once the Ball Python moves out of it so you can basically recycle them..." and my dad getting a subscription to reptile magazine at the Texas Reptile Expo. Lol! Ah, parents... (I actually think my mom is waiting for me to decide. Yes, I'm indecisive. Geckos, frogs, snakes, salamanders, ugh...)

If you know me, though, I LOVE herptiles and I'm practically all knowledge, no experience. Oh, and you can never talk to me without having me mention reptiles at least once. Maybe a few exceptions, but everybody knows I love reptiles. (Even some people I hardly talk to know I'm obsessed... lol)
I also like invertebrates such as Tarantulas and Scorps. And roaches. (I HAVE actually owned Madagascar Hissers before.)

I used to own a leopard gecko several years ago, but that was before I was a Herpetophile and I was afraid of the little guy. :/ Ignorance hurts.

i found this site ..so that i can share my love of reptiles..i use to have a ball python, and a classic corn snake, also an iguana...that i had to give them up a while back ...because my mom was very scared of my snakes....now that i have my own place i ,,, just got a male subadult classic corn snake het bloob red at least thats what they told me... not that im going to breed my snake...i plan to get a ballpython ..not sure when ...but hopefully soon

i do have a question about under tank heaters..what would be the best one for my corn snake and whats the best thermastat to use

Hello from Gloucester MA (30 minutes north of Boston). I am a new owner of a baby leatherback bearded dragon named Rango. He's about 3 months old right now. Hey everyone,

New to the cannel, cool to be here..

I have a much diminished reptile collection as I have just moved with my family abroad, and could only take six of my original 33 with me.. I now have 3 BD's, 1 Russian tort, 1 Alb Kingsnake and a Sav monitor juv, so will be nice to meet mutual keepers!

I've dealt with the big guy's, Green Ig's, Burms etc down to pygmy cham's and T's.. But I'm back to scratch one to start up again, as we won't be moving for a loong while now!!

Just thought I'd let you all know now I verge on the flipside of reptile care, as you will find out later.. (be afraid.. ) Some of my methods are what you'd term 'abnormal', or put more simply, 'crazy'. But always to the animals benifit, of course!

Our oldest turtle is a 26-year old RES who lives the ‘good life’ in an indoor pond. Hi all,

I've only recently gotten into keeping reptiles and wanted to join a forum filled with fellow keepers who love and respect their pets, from the newlies to the experts. My past experience with reptiles had either been seeing them from afar or coming upon them suddenly in my garden. In 2010 I bought my first pet rep, a Hondu milksnake/Florida kingsnake cross, whom I named Francis after one of my favorite saints.

Today, I fulfilled a long time "itching" to own skinks; I bought two female Fire Skinks.There are several wild skinks in my garden (the ones with blue tails) and have always been fascinated by these amazing but very speedy critters. I hope I can get some helpful advice and tips on caring for them properly.

I look forward to getting to know some grand folks here and sharing stories and pictures of these wonderful animals.

Hello all! I've been visiting Reptile Channel for a while and recently decided to join the forums. I've been keeping and breeding various herp species for 6 years. Lizards are my specialty. Other than herps, I enjoy photography, playing acoustic guitar, piano, and flute, spending time with my furry kids, macrame, and creating digital art. Here are some photos of a few of my herp kids (I'll get some photos of my many other scaley and sticky friends up soon). Hello everyone. I've been gone from the forum for awhile, but I decided to rejoin the discussions here.

I live in a small town, so I have to travel a bit to go to larger cities where I can see a variety of reptiles. I love Uromastyxs, and the stores that are nearest to me, like Petsmart and Petco, don't usually have them. They also don't carry poison dart frogs, etc.

I promise to participate on the forum now that I'm back.

hi there,i have had past experience with boas,veiled chameleons,tarantula,and right now we have 5 dogs

i have been looking to get a red foot for some time now this is my second time around gathering info last time was not good timing and decided to wait. i have had my tort table up for a couple of weeks now working on temps and humidity.My big problem at the moment is keeping humidity at a good level for more than 3 hours. im using a rubber maid 4x3 bin with a topsoil and jungle floor substrate with sphagnum moss one end is 80 the other 90 i have made some changes since pic was taken no more plastic plant added moss and a 2 more water dishes.any help would be great i do have it tilted so the moisture stays on one side.i thought about not having extra light but temps drop alot.

I frequent many other reptile forums such as beardeddragon.org and cornsnakes.com, and I have also belonged to this one, but have never posted.

My Bearded Dragon's name is Aaliyah, and she is about 3 months old. We've had her since she was a hatchling, and have really enjoyed having her.

We also have a classic corn named Apollo, whom we adopted a few months ago. He's 8 years old. He's an insanely social snake who loves exploring. We take him out very often.

We also have a cat, Mouse, but as this is a reptile forum, I doubt I will be posting much about her.

My husband and I just recently moved to Co. Springs, CO. And for a few years now he's been wanting a bearded dragon... well we got FOUR. Suspecting them all to be females. We've also acquired a black-throat monitor. So far everything has been going great.. but I was pretty tickled to find this site! Ive still got tons of reptilian questions and hope that others on here will be able to help or at least guide me well. See ya out there!!

We are new to the page with two beardies, I believe one is a german giant and the other is sandfire. They are 6 and 9 months. Their names are Puffalufagus (Puff) and Dimitri (Mitri).

We also have a Croc Skink named Isabella (Izzy) and two bull frogs Kermit and Kirby.
