Yes, that is true. If I'm correct there is only 15 or something like that of them in the world (that have been discovered anyway).

Greg Graziani has assembled a potential breeding group of amelanistic American alligators as a farming venture for Florida. He had one on display at the herp show in Tampa, Florida this past weekend and allowed me to snap some pics on a black-clothed table top. This was one impressive specimen, and it seemed the perfect subject to test my new Nikon R1 'ring' flash system on.
