RIP Odin

Okay so some of you know that about 3 weeks ago I bought a poor little sickly savannah monitor from a very bad pet store. She is doing great by the way...but sadly her brothers were not so lucky. I stopped in the Pet Depot this evening just to check up on them and to my horrific surprise one of the Savs was malnourished, dehydrated and 3/4 dead. He did not even have the energy to swallow water or lift his head off the ground. Thor, his brother was clinging onto dear life as close as he could get to their "heat source" (which wasn't much). I could not with good conscience turn my back on them, so we bought them and took them home. Odin (the malnourished one) did not last but a couple of hours. His body was as stiff as a board. I tried syringe feeding him repta-aid but he was too far gone. He died while I was holding him in my hands.

Thor is not doing a whole lot better. We did trick him into eating a pinky, that's a start. I also syringe fed him some repta-aid and water. He is addicted to the heat, like he's never known real warmth. This is dangerous because when they have been deprived of heat so long they can easily over-heat (not knowing exactly how to thermoregulate). I have been monitoring him closely in this regards. Every now and then Thor becomes squirmy and even starts to hiss. This is pretty good news. There is still some fight in him.

I will post pictures tomorrow of both Odin and Thor. Be warned these pictures are somewhat graphic. (Like any other pictures of starved to death animals.) At the time I bought Saga (the female) she was the worse off of the 3. I have no doubt that she would have died weeks ago if I had not taken her home with me. When I bought Saga both Odin and Thor were extremely active, biting at human hands, hissing and Odin even defecated on me while trying to wiggle out of my hands. It is so sad that in 3 weeks time they became lifeless emaciated shells.

I am going to contact the authorities on this situation. The monitors are not the only animals suffering at this pet store. What they are doing is completely inhumane and CRUEL! I will not let this issue rest until those animals are out of those people's care. I know this is a rant but someone needs to do something. Odin deserves his revenge.

About a year ago we had a paccy who caght redleg, we were so worried but when we suspected something was wrong, it was too late. It was sunday, and the Vet was closed. What can we do in the future?

Vet found no pairistes just mucus in the stool.

Last sunday my cousin was visting. He said that he wonted to see my snake. So i showed salizar to him. I tld him to not tounch anything while i went to the bathroom. I put sali back in his tank and i went to use the bathroom. When i went back, my snake was on the floor dead. HE HAD TAKEN HIM OUT AND STEPED ON HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is not allowed anywhere near me or my things agian. He said that it was fun and he was going to do it to all my animals! I HATE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it just looks freaky part of the hermit crab is in it's shell and part of the hermit crab is not in it's shell.

time will tell me i guess

A few months ago I had all my turtles out on our back patio in a big temporary tank as an indoor pond was being built for them. Our patio is encased in a screen enclosure, but just to be safe i had a screen tank top on with clips. There were 6 turtles in total all i had raised myself and all were rescues. I came out to feed them one morning a week before the pond was finished and the tank top had been ripped off even with the clips. The water was stained red.

At least 2 raccoons came in through our dogie door and ate 4 of the turtles. The remaining 2 were mauled badly but survived. One turtle in particular, Sophie, was going to be released the next month but due to the severe trauma inflicted on her hind legs she had difficulty swimming and could not be released.

I lost my crested gecko a couple of days back. yesterday, i found him dead in my turtle tank!!!!!!!!!!!! His name was jumper and he was my best freand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was only a baby and i have no idea on how he escaped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was only one year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooooooooo sad!!!!!!!!!!col col col col col col col col col col col col col!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anko died yesterday August 16th at 9:25pm. She somehow learned how to push open the locks on her terrarium and decided to take a field trip..into Loki the Savannah monitors terrarium. Loki chomped down on the side of Anko's neck and started shaking her. He refused to release Anko and she died in his jaws. The only thing we could do was separate them and bury the remains of Anko. She was too smart for her own good. Rest in peace Anko, you will be missed.

I had a leopard gecko for 2 years. Then I bought a male gecko to try and breed them but unfortunately she got bullied out of food. Then i tried to separate them, it was to late...

she died

It's sad to loose any pet know matter how big or small.But I lost a very loved tortiose a few years back.He was taken not by death but by theft.With death you know the care and love given during its life and you can mourn knowing you did your best.Not knowing if my baby boy was cared for or sold hurts more than any death of a pet I've ever been though.I still hope he is alive some where.I miss you baby boy.

Today I went to look at my frogs and I found maggots swimming around in the water.My mom made me get rid of my Fowler.She said sense I caught it,I have to realise it because of the maggots.I wish her luck in the wild and hope she is safe.

I havent been on this site lately so when i saw this forum i thought i should share.

I have two bearded dragons named Snoopy and spyro. I went to the pet store like every weekend to get them a treat ( a few worms and to stock up on crickets) i gave them some fat horned worms and i noticed a few hours after snoopy was trying to poop. she didnt but instead a small sack came out of her bum.

I new that i saw something like this in one of the reptile magazines i used to subscibe to and it said it was a prolapse. I folowed everything it said expept i didnt bring her to a vet. My Parents said it would be to much money. So after that i was in denial hopeing it wasnt a prolapse. well it got worse and the sack doubled its size. she was in so much pain that i couldnt leave her. I told my mom that i would rather have her put to rest then for her to suffer. We brought her in and when the vet looked at it he said she was egg bound and you could see some of the eggs in the sack. He said he could opperate but he said it was a 50/50 chance she'd survive. So i had her put down and i buried her next to draco.

I am really glad I had the Reptiles mag. because it gave me all the info i needed.

I lost my youngest and my oldest eastern painted turtles a couple of days ago. I lost Pavaratie(my oldest) to a unknown cause. He just began acting funny then 1 hour later he was gone.

I lost my youngest turtle to a wild animal when I forgot to put a cover on his out door enclosure. That was stupid of me.

At least they are in a better place now. Swiming in the great pond, and mating with female turtles.

Well I came home from Stone Harbor, NJ today. We had the neighboors taking care of the animals. And sadly my 2 greens died, for reasons I do not know. I gave them instructions and prepared everything for them, something must of happened. R.I.P.

We named her Grape because we discovered her on a Grape Vine in Santa Barbara and then we brought her back. She was a female just done with laying her eggs so we brought her back. Grape you were the coolest Tarantula ever.

I buried her under my crab apple tree and marked her grave with a pretty white rock.She was only two months old, she wasn't really mine but I was really close to her and I was the one who took care of her. She was my science class pet. But shes probably happier this way...the other kids were not nice to her. They sprayed her with water and banged on her terrarium. I'm not sure what it was but I think she might have hemorhaged somthing. Her nose was swollen and her mouth was crusted with blood...and the strangest part, she had a small hole in her side...I hope it was quick and painless and that she is now in a better place chasing crickets and other geckos..Rest in peace lucky...I love youIll miss you so much!!!
