Anko the curious California Kingsnake

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how you feel, I had a similar inccident with my turtles. A baby turtle climbed out of his tank and fell in with the adults and they killed him. I was crushed for weeks and still am, but there was nothing I could do, I didn't see him until I went to feed them. Again very sorry for your loss.

RIP Anko.

RE: R.I.P. Anko the curious California Kingsnake

Yes, we've had our fair share of freak accidents happen lately. Just a few days ago some dogs broke into our rabbit pen and maliciously killed our 5 year old Holland Lop. The other rabbit (1/2 cottontale/1/2 Havana) was younger so he got away, but had dried mud and dog saliva all over him. Not to mention a lot of my breeder mice/rats dying from the heat. My friend says it must be the full moon.
I don't know if I'll buy another Cali-king. I might just wait until the larger reptile show is held here in February of 09 to get a replacement female.

RE: R.I.P. Anko the curious California Kingsnake

Anko died yesterday August 16th at 9:25pm. She somehow learned how to push open the locks on her terrarium and decided to take a field trip..into Loki the Savannah monitors terrarium. Loki chomped down on the side of Anko's neck and started shaking her. He refused to release Anko and she died in his jaws. The only thing we could do was separate them and bury the remains of Anko. She was too smart for her own good. Rest in peace Anko, you will be missed.
