Thanks for showing a picture and some information.I am planning later when I move out of my moms house to buy a tarantula and I know I want a cobalt blue.But I want something big like a bird eater or something as big as they are.

If I was to choose what tarantula I want I would go for a Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula and a Cobalt Blue Tarantula.

IMO I think that the Goliath (Theraphosa blondi) is way overrated. I really like the the L. parahybana (Brazilian salmon pink birdeater) it will only be an inch smaller and has less irritating hairs and has a better temperament then the Goliath. The cobalt blue (Haplopelma lividum) is a awesome blue spider but they are nicknamed the pet hole. If you are lucky, you might see it when it eats. This is a picture of a L. parahybana.

I like most of the Avicularia family. my favorite is still the Avicularia versicolor. The next avic I want to get is the Avicularia purpurea, it's purple.

We have a sling that is a Pamphobeteus nigricolor. Most the time I pull that it is a female but I have to say even though that I know that a female lives a lot longer then a male I'm hoping for a boy. The female looks like a different spider and is very drab in color. Here is a picture with a female and male Pamphobeteus nigricolor.

Naphila clavipes the golden silk spider. Their webs are just amazing in the sun.

alot of people think that they are called banana spiders. True banana spiders are highly venemous and also called brazilian wandering spiders.

HUMM MY FAVE SPIDER god i like all TARANTULAS other regular spiders as i call them like brown recluses black widows and garden spiders freak me out lol i dont know why but they do i had to keep a black widow in a jar in my collection to get over the fear of them respect them but there groose lol i really like if i have to pick one the singapore blues awsome beautiful spiders

You know that is the best way to get over a fear. When I started working at a pet store, I had a huge fear of snakes, tarantulas and rats. Now I can work with anything. I still don't care for snakes but I bought one for my son when he asked for it. I make him read a book and I quizzed him on it before I would buy it for him. Rats I don't own but they are okay. As you can tell I got over my fear of tarantulas because now we have 63 of them. Hubby and I have started doing shows with the tarantulas. The Singapore blue is a nice spider but ours likes to hide as soon as you pick up his container.

We just picked up a curly hair Sunday and I have to say it is so docile unlike the greater horned baboon or the obt we got. The obt is a nice orange, I have to say.

Hmmmmm...spiders aren't my favorite thing but,I remember at school once that there was a small grey and cute spider that I named Wolfy but,he died.I never knew what kind he was though and I wanna get another.Hopefuly my new school will have them too.

I am scared of the little spiders.People think I should be used to thim by now cause I get bittin by thim all the freakin time.Don't know why though.I thing trantulas are preaty in ways though.

There are no tarantulas east of the Mississippi River. In Florida there is a colony of Pink Toes, and Vagans but they are not native there. It is believed that someone released them there and they survived.

As you can see from the second picture, they look like spiders when they are young.

I am very weird when it comes to spiders.Little spiders you see around in your house or out side scare me but tarantulas don't really scare me.It proble because they are bigger and I can see them better.

it's the smaller spiders that you need to worry about not tarantulas!

I never seen tarantulas where i live only small spiders.

No, I'm not saying you but someone else. I like the cobalt blue as well but you don't see them too much. They bury them self in the substrate and you don't see them . That is why I like the versi. It is blue as a sling and when it matures it is red.

A lot of people don't realize that they start out small. This tarantula will only get to about 3". We have had this tarantula for a year and it's still small.

I don't understand is why you would respond to "What's your favorite spider?" if you don't like them. If you don't like spiders then you probably don't have a favorite.

My favorite is Avicularia versicolor but my husband likes the Monocentorous balfouri.

We have 46 tarantulas. I know the the comments about T's. I hear about it all the time when we used to carry them at the pet store I work for. My husband and I are now doing shows in our area to help educate people about the fears and myths about tarantulas. Most people when they really find out more about them, still wouldn't own them but it's on the line of it's creepy cool.

I sad that my favorite spider is the colbait blue turantula.

The main reason why i don't like spiders is i don't want to be bitten by them.

most spiders are venemous but not all of them kill people i know that not all spiders are bad!

I agree with Xenite. Sorry but I just don't like them. They have too many eyes and legs. Take off about six of each and I'll get one.

thats part of there mating a male finds a female female attacks male holds her of(if hes lucky)tickles her under side so she'll expose some stuff then he does his thing & then tries to get the heck away but,yes spiders are cannalbilastic but,if there fairly the same size & the enclosure is big enough & if theres plenty of hides then you can put some pink-toe tatantulas together

to me centipedes are mean and scarier then spiders.

I like reptiles more then spiders and centipedes but also i know that not all people are the same.

you mean spiders right? he has reptiles so it makes no since that he would be afraid of them.

No, he meant reptiles. He was comparing Xenite's fear of spiders to some people's fear of reptiles; i.e. showing Xenite that he now knows what its like to have an irrational fear of something.

Xenite is afraid of spiders.
NO ONE here is afraid of reptiles! It was just a hypothetical!

There's nothing wrong with likes and dislikes. I personally detest roaches with a passion. I understand there's a select few hobbyists out there that enjoy keeping them; I just don't like them.

Not really find of centipedes either. I think they're cool to watch eat, but I don't want to be near one.

Since you don't like spiders you should know how people that don't like reptiles feel. Snake Charmer is right they need all the stuff you don't like on them like their hairs. Also as Snake Chamrer said it's either do or die.

They are hairy, have too many legs and eyes, and their pedipalps are also quite freakish. I like scorpions because they have 8 legs, but they have fewer eyes and their pedipalps are claws instead.

well,just for the record alot(if not all tarasntulas)use there hair as a defense mechanism they throw at predators or something that ticks them off

tarantulas have a good amount of eyes(they arn't very good) but,they rely mostly on touch & smell so,those extra legs come in handy for surveying there environment

so,you see all that is survival,do or die,kill or be killed,live or die
