ok so i know its well Wednesday but better late then never. so i thought this might be a bit interesting atleast i think it can be but it depends on the participation we can get, so this is gonna sorta be a double question first off what do you think about people calling the animals in their care their "collection" do you think negatively of it or positively or are you indifferent on the matter?
and since that is a pretty short question i will toss in this, setups and by setups i am talking in a pretty broad term since this section of the site isn't a place to go into much detail about setups, so such things as racks or tanks or condo cages or reptile rooms and the like what sort of setup do you have and use? and what sort of setup would you prefer if it is different then the one you have right now

so i will start it off i guess with the first question i asked and me personally do not really care about whether or not people call the animals in their care they're collection, i mean i do it and the main reason i decided to ask that is because sorta recently someone blew up in my face about calling my animals my "collection" and they ranted a bit on how they are living creatures and not objects but honestly i don't care whether i call my animals my collection or if other people do the same as long as the animals are getting good quality all around care.
and on the second note on setups, i like my current setup its a bit crowded as far as actual space goes (not the animals) since i have a bunch of empty cages laying around and im working on getting rid of some of em but its a work in progress and other then that yes i do have a room dedicated to my animals i use racks for my snakes and rather typical glass cages for my frill then i use these melamine cages for my cresteds and other then that i have a bunch of roaches in plastic tubs and someday i would love to get commercial grade racks and other then that i am rather content with my current setup
and on a slightly different note i am not against keeping snakes or certain species of geckos in rack systems i find that it is a better to give quality care to a larger amount of animals in a shorter amount of time

so the reptile industry is a fast growing area of the pet trade as many of us already know, so what i am asking you is where do you think the reptile industry is going? and are there any animals, products or care methods that you think will catch on in the future?
i will post my views on this later i am a bit short on time this instant but enjoy, this is a subject that has really caught my interest in the recent months

Some people (including me) Think that some herps are a little "Too popular"
Like the bearded dragon…Green Anole…or ball python. All are awesome pets but Some are what I think as "Too popular". Now Conehead Lizards are barely ever owned. But they are so cool! Same with the Bibrons Gecko. What are your thoughts?

recently i saw a special about snakes in Florida. these snakes are pythons and venomous snakes that are foreign to the us. here is a list of snakes that i found out about. Burmese pythons, rock pythons, African green mambas, and king cobras. these snakes escaped during hurricane Andrew from homes and pet stores. people buy these snakes and release them into the wild because they can't take care of them. the mambas and cobras are from illegal pet trade. a man has been bitten by an African green mamba in Florida. some of these snakes are over 20 feet long.

in central park of new york city an 7 foot long rock python is wandering around. a park warden gets a call that there is a large snake in central park. he finds it but it is in a bunch of rocks, so he chisels it out and it goes to a zoo somewhere.

any thoughts on this?

So, latley, I've been hearing a lot of fear and hatred about herps on tv, sometimes news, and other places and times in every day life. Many people find herps very dangerous, vicious, gross, ugly, and just plain bad animals. Not only is this happening on tv, news, etc, but there are many in our community who find herps these kind of animals. So, I thought we'd discuss how all of us can actually re-educate the un-educated about herps. Any ideas? I was thinking that when I get older, that I could start an organization that actually relocates herps from peoples' houses and property instead of them killing them, and educating people about herps.

Well it seems that "The Herptile Master" has been starting all the weekly topics because nobody else has. It seems that we all(including me) have forgotten that we are taking turns. So I guess I'll start the new topic this week. The topic is the reptile channel rewards. They have added new things onto the list, such as herptivite and calcium with D3. This week we will be debateing the identity of this unknown crocodilian.

The web site that i got the picture from had about half a dozen comments about this guy. And they could not agree on what this guy was. Some people say crocodile, some say mutant gator, some people say a hybrid of some sort. And that it was traits of both croc and gator. What do you guys think???

Since it is the middle of the week and nobody has made a new topic, i will start one. This week, we will talk about the ever evolving man eating snake deabte. I have a few pics and feel free to post your own. We will examene and eaither support or debunk diffrent stories and pictures. Ok here are my pics.

The picture at the top really has no story. It kinda just appred on the internet one day. The one above is of a reticulated python eating a man. The story is that the man was walking throught the forest for reasons unknown. And he went missing for sevrle hours. No one knew where he was. Then, a local police officer saw this grusome sght and shot the snake dead. Then took the picture. Apprently, there was a odtopsy and it proved that nearly every bone in the mans body was broken. The officer who found them said the snake was trying to eat the man. What do you think???

i sure hope I start this right. so if there is on thing I hate, it would be herp fights on you tube. they video tape a fight between to herps and post it for all to see? I dont know how many times a write comments on them yelling at thoes creeps that put it up. thoughts? opinions?
