I've wanted a snake for years but I could never convince my parents. Good luck with the beardie though!

I still have that problem :/

My mom got over her snake problem a year ago, then she let me get my pueblan milk snake, and six months before she told me I would never have a snake in her house. And this weekend there is a very good chance i will get another snake.

thanks but i showed my mom a picture of a crested gecko the other day and she seemed to like it but then today i asked her if she would let me get one but she just said no. so my parents are going to let me do something for my birthday this year so i will either see if i can build my leopard a custom tank with background or go to clyde peeling's reptiland.

Your parents should be taking care of them only if you are away.

^Agreed. I can see why your parents would say no if they take care of it often. A bearded dragon would be the last thing you want to get if your parents are not thrilled about lizards. Give it some time, and hopefully you may get some in the future.

I'm going to be in the minority here, but how about just respecting your parent's wishes? If you keep pushing, they are going to dig their heels in even more. If they don't want to take care of a gecko, then there is no way they will want to help take care of a beardie, which requires more maintenance and food.

i remember that i had to keep my room clean and my grades decent for about 9 months before my parents let me get my first reptile... that was about 5 years ago and now i have lots of reptiles

Well there are other types of gecko's that don't get big. Like the crested gecko and the knob tailed gecko. i thing the crested gecko is tropical and I know that the knob tailed gecko is a desert animal. There is a knob tailed gecko care sheet here on the reptile channel and here is one for the crested gecko. Just go to this web page hope it helps

Hi i know a ton about reptiles (mostly lizards) and may want to be a herpetologist some day but i have a little problem.

i have one leopard gecko now but i really want to get another one or another type of species (which i will talk about later). first of all i need good convincing tips and i mean good because my parents are tough ,and the main reason they won't let me get another one is because i go away a good amount in the summer and they don't like to take care of him. Also as you heard before i know a lot about reptiles but my parents won't listen to me so when i suggest something it just gets discarded. Lastly I'm not really sure if i want to get another leopard gecko but I'm interested in bearded dragons but my mom probably wouldn't like how big they get so i was wondering if there was anything like a bearded dragon but didn't get to be as big and if you have any other recommendations they are welcome too.
