They are wonderful! You walk in and there are aisles and aisles of herps, supplies mags, books, photos, crafts, art, and apparel, cheap too! My show also has guest speakers cool display herps, raffles, photo contest, book signings, food (not the best though), and the best of all you can talk with the breeders and pick out your own herp! Heaven on Earth.

OMG!!!!!!!That seems like heaven for me but,a bad word to my dad.

Either way,just add in some good salted carrots (when I say carrot,I mean the ones that aren't baby carrots and are huge.)and I'll stay there forever.

You know i have never been to one either. I have only kept reptiles for about a year but have studied them for close to 5 years. Anyways the big ones have tons of vendors with only some of them allowing venomus. but some of the big ones like daytona and the narbc shows they have speakers. And along with that kind of stuff there are lots of nice people willing to help you.

Gosh - herp show season ( = late summer for me) sure keeps me hopping. It's been nearly non-stop for me; I'm just back from 6 days driving to / from Raleigh, North Carolina, and I'm heading west for the Anaheim show early tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the photos, Bill! One of these days I'll make the trip down from up here in Canada, but I'll want everything, and everything I like is listed in CITES!

To RGS, are you really publishing another "Giant Lizards" book? Just loved the first one! Can't wait!! Oh, and my newly acquired V. ornatus was captive bred here in Canada (hatched Aug. 3/08)!

We DO have a couple great shows in California!! The next one is just next weekend, Sept 6/7 at the Anaheim Convention Center. There will be just as many different species on display as there are in Daytona. It may not be quite as large as Daytona, but it's pretty darn close!!

Not sure if posting the link for the show is against TOS here but if you do a google search for Anaheim Reptile show you'll find all the info quickly! I looked on the site here for show listings and didn't find one. I urge everyone to look for shows in your area and to go visit them. The shows don't have to be large to be very enjoyable. You'll get a chance to meet great people and see many nice herps.

Chondrogal - please introduce yourself next time because I didn't realize you were there.

I was in stealth mode!! lol, not really... you actually saw me probably 50 times, just didn't realize who I was. I introduced myself a few years ago at one of the shows.... can't say I remember which one!! I thought you certainly had a photographic memory!! (unlike me who forgets names 30 seconds after meeting sometimes!)

Remember the old gal giving you grief while you were trying to sign Kathy up to win that pinstripe ball? That was me Next time I see you I'll poke you in the side and you'll never forget me again!!

AND...... I thought about stopping to say hi to Kathy but dang!!!!! She's ever popular and I don't think ever had a free moment at the table! I wasn't vending in Daytona, but will be in Anaheim.... are you coming out?

I'm finally getting all the pics taken last weekend sorted. Yup - that was an extra large, economy-sized ringed python, Bob. Chondrogal - please introduce yourself next time because I didn't realize you were there.

Here are a few more....

Mark and Kim Bell - their company, Reptile Industries, probably breeds more species of herps than than any other in the U.S. They're long-time friends who live about an hour away from me. I frequently photograph at their place, and even have a mini studio set up there now to take images for them like the ones on their display.

Pete Kahl breeds oodles of boids, but is perhaps best known for being the originator of the line of piebald ball pythons we see everywhere today.

The big boss of the National Reptile Breeders Expo, Wayne Hill, on patrol at the show on his Segway.

Yes, the python is the Bismarck ringed python, Bothrocheilus boa, and the biggest specimen I have ever seen! It's like the Arnold Schwartzenegger of ringed pythons...

nice pics & thought that snake was a krait but,the name tag also,will the reptile show in atlanta georgia be back next year i went there this year(flchams & an anaconda owner were i the same hotel as we were & we fount that fl has a store in tn we might go up there some time my granpa was real fascinated with there jacksons)& it was small but,good

This year I left my camera at home and packed light so didn't get any pics of my own for this year. I saw so many beautiful animals and spent a lot of my time learning more about animals I haven't kept, especially geckos.

Got to spend a little money, had a great time, caught up with old friends and made several new ones.

Great pics of the show Bill!! I'm glad you got a pic of Russ, nice for me to put a face to the name. The sand sculpture was awesome, kind of fun seeing grown men still playing in the sandbox!! Thanks for sharing!!

How I long the days I can travel to places......my dad always gets bored at my only expo of the year! Everybody's all "come on we've been here for an 1hr" No appreciation there

And as for the identification of that snake, a ringed python........ well thats all I could make out on the label of the display case

I've been at the National Reptile Breeders Expo in Daytona Beach, Florida since last Wednesday afternoon. Besides manning our tables, I wandered widely snapping pics of friends, vendors, etc. Here are a few....

Does anyone recognize what species this vendor, Tom Keogan, is putting back in its cage?

That's artist extraordinaire Carel Brest van Kempen on the left (and one of his magnificent paintings to the right), and Russ Case, editor of REPTILES Magazine on the right. They were hanging in the art room when I visited.

Greg Graziani shows an albino alligator to a young visitor.

Mike Monge of FLChams had a special sand sculpture made of his logo.

Marc Cantos of Turtle Source may have had the biggest banner / sign. I was going to tie myself to it in case tropical storm Fay returned to blow and dump even more rain on the area.

Rom Whitaker from India was the recipient of the $25,000 raised at the annual NRBE auction Saturday night. He'll use it for efforts to try to save the Indian gharial (gavial) from extinction.

Dr. Ivan Alfonso and friend displayed a husky shingleback skink.

My wife Kathy Love (in tie-dye blue) had a bunch of friends helping her out at our two CornUtopia - Blue Chameleon Ventures tables both days, which allowed me to slip away and take all these pics.
