I haven't been keeping herps for long but my first herp was lucy, my leopard gecko.

=o thats really sad Bella! I ONLY HAVE 1 ANOLE LEFT.. (oops caps lock)

after that, i have no clue to put in the Exo-Terra rainforrest habitat kit- small. (equivalent of a 10 gallon tall.) i was thinking of getting a green tree frog..or some tree frog.

good to hear max, my last pet from petco was an anole and he died so quickly that i didnt even name him!! But my first real herp was a firebelly toad named Toby. I always had hermit crabs before that.

mine was the good ol' leopard gecko..i bought him from Petco six years ago and he's still living strong!

The first herp I ever "purchased" was my Ball Python, named Monty. but technically, when I was a kid, I convinced my folks to get me a Leopard Gecko (ended up with 3 lol) and later that year we got a pair of Beardies too. Herps Rule!

This is a rather old topic. Look at the date that the last person posted on (excluding the one who posted on the 15th).

Herps include reptiles and amphibians.

Hello, my first herp was a newt. I love all animal; however here, are a few that I do not consider to be on my list of favorites (cats, snakes and rats). I now own 7 turtles, one golden gecko, two red bellied newts, a 45 gal. tank stocked w/ silver dollers, white gold fish and ruby reds and my wife has a 4 year old bearded dragon....

Of my turtles , I have: 1 Red Ear Slider, 1 Central American Box Tutrtle, 1 Ornate Box Turtle, 1 Yellow Bellied turtle, 2 Map (Ouchita and Miss.) turtle and 1 Cherry Headed Tortoise.

Thanks to REPTILE Mag and the Reptile Channel (Online), I have been able to care for my turtle accurately and successfully. -Marvin N. of Upper Marlboro,MD

First herp was when I was 5...my older brothers have always had herps so this is how I got into it....believe it or not was an iguana...then a caiman, this is when they where readily available in Woolworths for about 5 bucks...

My first herp was a green anole. he was cool and all but he was WAY to much work and soon this white stuff was comming out his nose so we brung him back to the pet store. but now i got cody which is way better so if you want to see pics check out my channel.

My first herp was a Rio Cauca caecilian, back when Brazil still allowed them to be exported for the pet trade. To this day, caecilians are still among my favourite herps. Too bad they're so difficult to find (or to find anyone who knows what they are)

my first herp was an amelanistic corn. i named it steve in honor of steve irwin. the day after i bought him i had found out he died so i named it after him.

i curently have three adult corns 2 creamsickle males, one reg. femal, two babies from this years clutch, female creamsicle and a zigzag hypo male, and most recently got a baby female snow today, yay!!!

My first herp was a New Mexican Milk Snake. I got him a bout 8 months ago and still have him along with my Schneider's Skink and Ball Python.

A young eastern box turtle named Buddy. I think we had him for a year before we were forced to give him away. We had recently moved and we didn't have enough room to keep him any longer.

MY first herp was a Columbian rainbow boa named slither. She got lost and has been so for years. P.S. not me that lost her.

Besides a few Blue-Belly lizards I'd catch on my parents property and keep for a day or two then release, my first real herp is my ball python named Diesel.

My first herp was a female three toed box turtle. I have had here for 5 years and she is about 8 or 10 years old. And she is still with us today.

My first herp was a turtle. I was so young that i dont even remember what i named it. It was some kinda soft shell turtle. From there I got chamelions, anolies, fence lizzards, frogs, aligator lizzards, geckos, savannah monitors, and this really mean lizzard(if you picked him up he would whip you with his tail.), and so many i cant remember them all.

My first herp was a green iguana when I was about 13. But once I grew up and moved outa my parents house it quickly grew to an iguanna and several different kinds of snakes at one time I had as many as 13 enclosures going at once. The only reason I didn't have more was because I ran outa room.But today I got rid of quite a few and had a few die, so i'm down to 1 ball python and 1 green iguana.

my first reptile was a luecistic bubble eyed texas rat snake... very very bad choice.. shedding eye caps was always a problem and needless to say the snake lives a very short life after pulling or shall i say dragging one of his own eye balls out.. it was sad and gross but thats wat started it all for me and that was wen i was 6 years old..

This question takes me WAAAAAYYYY back! I suppose that my first herp was a green frog caught when I was three, on a vacation at Twin Lakes Mountain Lodge in Kingston, NY. That was followed a year later by a pair of (*sigh*) dime-store baby red-eared sliders. But in terms of the herps that I consider a serious, intentional, and planned acquisition AFTER I became fixated on herpetology, it was a pair of common green anoles when I was nine.
