Plus, plecos produce a ton of waste, and five to seven gallons of water is not nearly enough water for a pleco, even a three to four inch one.

RE: Algae

MOST plecos get over a foot long...not all
but a lot of the cool lookin little ones are expensive, and toad toxins did not cross my mind, i'm not an amphibian keeper obviously lol

RE: Algae

I clean the tank every week, i do have a filter. That can help, also another way of preventing alagea from growing is cleaning the cage often with, like Maximum said, a tooth brush or any type of brush. You have to use some elbow grease though...
Geez Grant, you posted when I was posting....

RE: Algae

Plecos are a type of fish that eat algae. They would not do well at all in that set up. Most types of plecostamous you will see will grow to over a foot long at alarming rates. Do not get a pleco.

Yep, scrub it with a toothbrush until all the algae comes off. That is the only way to get rid of it. In the future, provide less light to that area and give it a weekly scrub with the toothbrush to avoid another outbreak of algae like this one.

RE: Algae

I'm not sure what a pleco is...an algae eater?

toothbrush...can i use it after i get the algae off? lol ew

RE: Algae

Except when they die from the firebelly toad's toxins.

RE: Algae

psh.... pleco's are more fun >.>

RE: Algae

Get a toothbrush and start scrubbing.

RE: Algae

Get a pleco!!!

Algae

how do i remove this algae off of my divider?
