Consider investing in a cage with front opening doors instead of a fish tank or glass cage with a screen top. With screen cages you need to remove both a UV fixture and a heat lamp when you need to open the cage. Most are made of lightweight plastic and hold heat much better than screen top tanks. The lights and heating can be mounted inside the cage. here are some links to check out.

I am trying to upgrade my tank to a 75 as we speak.

So far, no local buyers for my 55 gal. Keep your fingers crossed!

A fifty-five gallon tank isn't big enough for even just one bearded dragon in my opinion.

Think about it, a bearded dragon can get up to twenty-four inches long. Fifty-five gallons are only fourty-eight inches long (just twice their length) and twelve inches wide - half their length.

I would say that a seventy-five gallon tank is the minimum size for them, but a 4'x4'x2' enclosure is best.

yea, I hear that Maximum, no babies please....

Thats why I wanted 2 females. Well.. I changed my mind, I only have a 55 gal tank so it will be only 1 (one) Bearded Dragon.

I suggest a 4' x 2' enclosure for a single bearded dragon, or two females. You can not house a male with a male, and unless you want a never ending supply of eggs and babies, don't mix males and females.

I believe that a 75gallon long would make one bearded dragon happy.

I would consider a 4 foot long tank to be minimum housing for a single bearded dragon. You will need something much bigger for a pair.

I've been thinking about getting a Bearded Dragon for some time now. The question that I have is tank size. I have an opportunity to get a used 55 gal aquarium (with stand), or a 40 gal L critter cage.

The 55, I thought, would be used for 2 Bearded Dragons but then I read that they perter to be by themselves. Is this true? Can 2 Males/Females tolerate one another?

So If I only get one Bearded Dragon, will the 40 L be big enough?
