As I recall from high school and college microbiology labs, a mixture of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water is sufficient to kill pretty much any pathogen. Next time you can use a lot less bleach. Also, I would very carefully rinse those rocks several times in clear water to get rid of any detergent residue. The surfactants in detergents can be a bigger problem than the bleach.

The bleach ratio you used was strong, try soaking in hot water again, rocks are porus & may of absorbed some bleach.

Let them air dry for at least a week, or until the smell of bleach is completely gone.

Hi,

I was just wondering about some local river rocks that I picked up.
First off, I placed them in a bucket of half bleach and half hot water for around 12 hours. Then I rinsed thoroughly around 4 times. Let dry. Today, I washed them with "Dawn" dishsoap with a toothbrush. I did this around 3 times. Then I hand dried them.
The question that I have is:
How long do I let them air dry before I place them with my Leopard Gecko?
The rocks have a small scent of bleach to them.- Believe me, them have been scrubbed good.
