That's pretty funny, I'm sure my own mother would say the same thing if she saw these pics... Well, the way I see it: it's art. It probably took that breeder years, who knows how long actually, to finally produce a dragon as deep red as that! I think it's so amazing how vivid and "fake" bright the colors turn out. It like a living, breathing, walking piece of art! So cool! I kinda consider "morph" breeders, whether of snakes, turtles, dragons, etc, artists because they are selectively breeding for a specific trait or gene, repeatedly, and we don't really ever know what the final product will look like until it's born! Who knows what type of morphs will exist 10 years from now. Right now breeders are producing SCALELESS DRAGONS AND SCALELESS SNAKES! Like how does the even happen!??? LOL. Who would have ever thought the day would come when you could buy a scaleless ball python or bearded dragon!

I personally dont like any of the colored sands, they have the tendancy to stain the feet of the lizard, and can cause eye infections due to their fine nature. Not to mention its SO expensive! If you have more than one dragon, and you clean the tanks as often as you should it costs a fortune to use that stuff!

As far as safety goes though, as long as its fine grain and not calcium based its probably a pretty slim impaction risk.

Just to fill you in, this sand doesn't stick to scales. Jack was on this for months and still had his hypo pastelness.

OMG....here is another gorgeous dragon.... Pic taken from the same breeder I posted originally, and I think it's a tie between my first pic on this post, and this one here:

Oh, and this one is beyond my price range, no matter what, but I just thought I would share, the breeder calls her a: Red Translucent Dream Dragon! Spectacular, huh?

Tell me what ya'll think of the two morphs I am tied between!

i have to say i dont play favorites with manufacturers but i do study each product very very carefully before i buy and then again before i use, and the bets companies, from what i have seen, are zoomed and exoterra i mean there are more great products from the two of them each than from most other companies combined.... in my opinion. So i think i would trust things they made more than others but there never comes a point where you stop checking to see everything you give your herps is the very best and if you must use sand i agree exoterra not ever calci sand!

That Exo-Terra sand is one of the best brands of sand there is. It's not calcium sand, () It's not man-made, it's completely natural (:cool ) and is rounded, not sharp by the looks of a grain I studied VERY closely. ( ) Just as good as play-sand, and comes in more colors than play sand. Honestly, that substrate has about a 2% impaction risk. It's what I used to have Jack on, but now she's on tile. Which I like too. (Although Jack kinda misses digging, I'm gonna add a little pile of sand for digging in so she can dig again)

The pics look like your dragon is on a calcium sand - im not sure if you already know this or not, but that stuff is pretty dangerous and not a good substrate. Its been proven to cause impactions, and eye infections as well as being unsanitary

He looks like a nice looking normal - definately has a lot of orange in him

Unfortuntely, due to the fact that most bearadie mores are just line bred (i.e someone had a dragon with a lot of a certain color and they bred it with another dragon of similar coloring and continued to do so until they had the desired look) as opposed to being strictly genetic (simple recessive etc) and the fact that breeders basically name their own morphs a lot of times, its impossible to say what morph you have unless you know where it came from, who its parents are, etc etc.

Yes, I agree!!! They are beautiful as well. Such a BRIGHT solid orange, they almost look fake!

They are all gorgeous really...it just comes down to personal preference. I just love hearing from others what THEIR favorites are! I can talk reptiles all day, and I'm so excited over all of these morphs because there are soooo many!

Herpdude- I'm loving the orange/yellows around his eyes and face. I think that is such a pretty contrast.

Mim- Are those two different dragons? Or is it just the lighting? That first pic is BEAUTIFUL! Cyric is sooo red! But then in the second pic, he looks real yellow?

To be honest - it depends on which breeder you get it from. Many breeders will use their own lines and coin their own morphs - there are TONS of different red morphs...sandfires, bloods etc etc.

Your best bet is to find a good breeder you like and pick a specimen you really like from them.

I really like the leatherbacks myself - and any of the morphs with high amounts of red.

Although the hypo transulcents are VERY cool

I like the sandfire and translucent morphs. But my beardie, Drake, also has some very nice coloring that I am fond of (he's having a bath as I type, btw)

Thanks! I'll have to check them out. I think I've heard of LLLReptile before, but I did not know they breed beardies.

Honestly, I'm sure you beardie is a total sweetheart and a gorgeous looking morph, I just can't really see too much..I think the picture is just too dark. I love pastels though, and hypo pastels?? Whoa, I bet she's smoking!

I just started reading into the morphs a few weeks ago, and the internet has really opened my eyes to just how many morphs are out there! Thanks for sharing!! I'd love to see another pic of Jack if you have any others!!

OMG!! They are soooo beautiful! Yeah, I definitely have to save up for a few months to get some extra cash to really buy any morph, and there's something about the translucents that just totally make me melt! LOL. But the one you shared is a beauty too!

As for breeders, what you said above IS what I'm doing... I was just wondering if anyone one HERE could give me a good word-of-mouth reference, ya know? Because everything is going to look good and sound good on a webpage. I just want to make sure the breeder is well-known and that they would only sell a healthy beardie, that the colors are as vivid in person as they are in a picture, that they are eating well, that someone interacts w/ them daily, ETC.... Because if I'm gonna spend some $$$$ on an "expensive designer morph" I want to know all of the above about that animal and breeder.

So, it will be a few months to maybe a year, simply because I need to SAVE up for it AND make sure the 2 I have rescued are entirely healthy. Thanks for sharing though!!!

Well, as most of you know, I have recently adopted two neglected beardies. Long story short, I am ABSOLUTELY in love with them and I cannot wait until they are 100% healthy again. I have since fallen in love with bearded dragons, and because the pair I have adopted are both 4 yrs old, I have begun to wonder what it would be like to eventually adopt my OWN BABY and raise him/her from the start.

I have been browsing many beardie breeder websites and I've been looking into all kinds of morph and color variations. I don't plan on getting one tomorrow or anything, but over the course of this year, I am toying with the idea of buying my own baby. So far, the morph that I am most obsessed over is the "hypo translucent" line. I think they are AMAZING! I would love to hear from you guys and find out what other morphs are really awesome. So, if you could have any beardie morph, which would you choose?
