Yes I definitely did unless you cannot put two and two together. I said that he is an adult, captive bred male and that adult, captive bred males run about eighty dollars.

To be honest I have no idea who the breeders were, I was just browsing and came across it. So I couldnt tell you if they were WC or CB but from the price my guess is captive.

Very cool gecko,I can tell it's related to a leo.Very interesting,and be sure to post pictures once you get him.

Rarity does not necessarily mean that the animal is expensive, it depends on the demand. For example, Nephrurus levis (smooth knob-tailed geckos) are much more common than Goniurosaurus hainanensis, but N. levis will cost around 300 to 500 dollars, while G. hainanensis will only cost about sixty to 175 dollars. Captive bred, unsexed, hatchling hainanensis will go for about sixty dollars, captive bred, adult males for about eighty, and captive bred, adult females for about 125 to 175. Wild caught are slightly cheaper, but usually die within a couple of months in captivity.

I would guess that under 1000 people in the United States keep cave geckos, with only about fifty actually breeding them. They are very, very difficult to find, and it took me about six-seven months to finally find a reliable breeder.

What species of Goniurosaurus were the ones that were 150 to 250 dollars? Were they captive bred or wild caught? And who was the breeder, just curious?

Lucky, but since you metioned Goniurosaurus hainanensis is a rare speices, they must be expensive. How much $$$ is it?

I believe their common name is "Hainan cave gecko." They are fairly closely related to leopard geckos (both Eublepharids), but they are much, much rarer and much more finicky and difficult to care for.

He is really beautiful! Hopefully I can find a nice Lowland female for him.

Here is a picture of my Goniurosaurus hainanensis that I am getting in as soon as the weather cools off. It is too hot to ship him right now. These are the current owner's pictures. I can't wait for it to cool off! He is a one-year-old, captive bred, proven male Goniurosaurus hainanensis.
