Well "carpet python" isn't too specific. There are several subspecies, all differing in size. Here are the most common types in the U.S. All cage sizes depend on how big the snake is.

Irian Jaya- Smallest of the carpets. Usually averaging at around 4 to 5 feet, rarely exceding 6. I know of someone who has around a 9 foot female though. Can easilly be kept in a 40 or 50 gallon cage as long as it has plenty of climbing room.

Jungle- Medium carpet, closer to the small end of the spectrum. Usually around 5 or 6 feet, with a BIG female around 9 or 10 feet. Usually kept in around a 50 gallon (still with climing room), the bigger the snake, the bigger the cage. These rules can typically be used in caging diamonds, which are less common and more expensive.

Coastal- Largest of the carpet pythons. Usually around 8 or 9 feet. Can be kept in a cage around 80+ gallons.

The most important thing to remember with any kind is to utilize as much space as possible with branches, perches, and shelves.

Carpet python cage size

I was just thinking, I have heard people say carpet pythons can be kept in a 40 gallon tank, but that seems a bit small for a snake that can get to be 10 feet long. So what is the relistic cage size? I think it is , like, 80 gallons minimum.
