So I went to feed my sulcatas last night and noticed a scratch on my little ones' shell.  It is about 2 inches long and not very deep at all.  The scratch had blood in it but it was not dripping out, it just looked like dried blood in the wound.  We immediately washed him under warm water and scrubbed the wound with a baby brush.  He did not seem to be in any discomfort when we were washing the cut or while we were inspecting it.  My question is, is there anything I can put on the scratch to protect it from dirt and dust?  What should I do for him?  I never thought I would have to deal with an injury, so any suggestions would be very helpful.  We are working on making contact with a vet but given my location, we have not been able to find one that does exotic animals.  He is about 2-3 years old.  The scratch runs along the lines in his shell between the upper and lower shell.  Please can anyone help me?  Maybe even a website that could help?  I have nowhere else to go for help

If you washed it out well that should be good for now. Sounds like you did everything you could. If it is still bleeding in the morning or after a couple hours though, you should go to a vet.

It sounds like it should be fine. Just keep an eye on it and if it starts to get dirty clean it again. You can try putting a gauze pad on it and taping it to the shell with medical tape but it is hard to keep on and you can also try putting some beta dine on it but as long as you keep it clean he should be fine.
