I just heard President Obama won the nobel peace prize. He didn't do anything to deserve it. They even voted 2 months to his presidency.

Actually, the deadline for the award was 2 WEEKS after he was elected. This post has a potential to turn into a huge fight. I urge anyone who posts to please be civil and express your opinions respectfully without causing a huge fight. With that being said, here is my opinion. Obama has promised to do a lot since February, but, in my opinion, has accomplished little. The head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee said himself that the award was not for what Obama had done so far, but was given for what he has promised to do and is expected to do. The committee even acknowledged that Obama'splans "may not bear fruit". Since when is an award, especially one of this importance, awarded based on potential instead of achievements. There are many people in the world who deserved this award much more than Obama. Now he has to prove that he deserved that award. I'm sorry if this offends anyone.

| He dosn't deserve it, he got it for somthing he hasn't done yet. Its like if Albert Enstien got a Nobel Prize before he created or discovered atomic energy. And anyways, Obama already makes 800K a year, he just donated the 1.4 million to charity. It dosn't makes sense, Obama isn't looking as good as everyone thought he would be.

| Bugman, it's not your opinion, its FACT. I could care less who's offended. A prize for creating an atmosphere of hope? That and $2.00 will get you on the bus. I'm not suprised actually. Let's look at some other prize winners:
Al Gore, fear mongering, opportunistic hypocrite.
Jimmy Carter, former presidential failure, poster boy for human efforts worldwide (or at least in opportunistic third world countries)
United Nations, Food for Oil scandalists and international joke. Recipient of thousands of unpaid New York parking tickets. Issuer of several stern warnings.
Dalai Lama, leader of the lama class of priests that lived in luxury while they kept the non lama class living in ignorance and squander. Now spending his time living in luxury between Hawaii and India, often seen hobnobbing with celebs while fighting to reinstate independence to Tibet in order that the Lamas can once again subject the lower class to medievel standards of living. Answers every question with another question.
United Nations Peace Keeping Forces. Seriously, what else do I have to say?
Mother Teresa, founded a bunch of places for people to die in while denied any treatment or comfort other than prayer.
Seriously, the Nobel Prize is pretty much devoid of any true substance, but is instead nothing more than a talk piece for glory hounds.

| Well, basicaly all the people that appoint and vote canidates that are usually powerful world leaders are associated with the worlds issues and they're usually wealthy, powerful people themselves. I think the only reason Obama one was because everybody thought he would get us out of the Middle East crisis going on, obviously that hasn't happened yet.

| Ratsnake pretty much said what I was going to say. Obama is a lying moron that is yet to "change" anything other than adding to the national debt. The Nobel prize is so politicized that it doesn't mean anything. Look who's one it in the past. In case you didn't notice, about all of them are left wing nuts that preach things they can't do. Alfred Nobel would turn in his grave if he found out what his money was going to.

I have to say I agree with you ratsnake so far hes only built up a large atmosphere of hope and said hes going to do all these great things. Whats the chance of doing all these things I say about 48% and whats the chance hes going to have a beer with somebody who got arrested and the person who arrested him 100%. Also I don't want to arouse a fight.

Seriously I know this is going to touch nerves,but here it is anyway.President Obama only got that award because he promised to bring all the troops home.And didn't he just agree to send more troops over.And the fact that he is the first black president.You know that everyone made a big deal out of it.My thought is so what.Great that he became the first black president lets face it things are different then they were years ago and someday we were going to have a black president.But with that being said my problems with him aren't because of the color of his skin but because of issues that endorses or is for.All i'm saying is it seems like they rewarded him because he's black.None of us get rewarded for the color of our skin so why should he.My problem with Obama is that during his whole campaign he just basically said what everyone wanted to hear,typical politics.I just felt from the begining that all of it sounded good but he really wouldn't deliver on most of it.Mccain,while probably not the best canidate either,basically said what kind of stuff was going to happen that is happening and noone wanted to hear everyone thought Obama was our saviour,that he would have all our troops home and have our economy back in shape in the first six months.But all he has really done has made alot of it worse.Of course I understand that some of it isn't his fault I just think that he may have bit off more than he can chew.And I guarantee that most of the people that voted for him this time that thuoght he was the master of the universe,won't vote for him in four years when things don't get done the way that he said they would.People want instant gratification that is human nature.But people need to realize that these problems didn't start over night so you can't fix them overnight.They all blame Bush for it now I will agree he was an idiot,but he didn't create alot of these problems some he did but not all.They just came to a head while he was in office,Most can be traced back to the banks in the 70's,80's and 90's with all their wreckless lending and spending.And as far as the war goes if his dad And Clinton would have gotten those people like Binladen when they had the chance back in the 90's I don't think that we would be in this war now.And Clinton also started a ball of his own rolling with economy when he deregulated the transportation industry and started alowing trucks from other countries to do their thing in our country.Ever since then companies have been trying to undercut each other and now nobody can afford to pay the workers salaries.My other issues with Obama is the fact that he's anti-gun and pro-choice,I'm pro-gun and pro-life,enough said.Sorry that I was on my soap box,and I'm sorry if I offended anyone but that is my oppinion I just wanted to get it of my chest.All I'm saying is that the man isn't as great as everyone thinks he is and he didn't really deserve that award.

| Well, I will say my piece and be gone. I don't like politics, but I think Obama has good intentions but is, and has, going to screw up. Mcain wasn't a better choice. This year's president's weren't good

| I don't think Obamas race was a factor in getting the Prize, but because he seemed to untite everyone and project "hope" whatever that means. He's wants to extend the olive branch to the Middle East, and they are laughing at him. Do you think that Iran is affraid of Omama? Hell, no. A strong military leader is what you need to keep countiries like Iran in line. Talking can only get you so far. Obama had divided this county over this health care nonsense. When was the last time you saw so many people protesting over a proposed policy? It's obvious that the country does not want a cradle to the grave health care system. We pay enough taxes. If this goes through, were done. The idea that poor people can't get health insurance is a lie. States have cheap health insurance for poor people. I'm poor right now. I lost my job and I am in school for a new career. I'm taking advantage of state unemployment that my taxes support and I have my daughter on state health insurance for $30 a month. Thats nothing. That proves that there are other options than Obama Care.
