I was at NARBC recently and saw some Black widows. I though that it would be a weird spider to have as a pet. Has anybody here kept one. Post your opinions and thoughts.

Rhacodactylus Ciliatus (Bottecelli)

| I don't have any widows now but I've had them for several years in the past. They are very venomous so you definitely need some common sense in dealing with them. Once you get them set up they are really very easy to take care of. The best thing I've found to keep them in is these cool little plastic display cubes from hobby stores. Be sure to keep all sticks/leaves at least two inches from the top or put Vaseline round the top to keep them from webbing along the lid. The hardest part is when you get an adult female is she will almost guarantee lay you several egg sacks, and that is not fun to try to pull them out from moms guard. It is so much fun to watch them hunt little crickets.
