So me, Sinkarnate, Fred, Mustang, and maybe a few others got in to a discussion on hybrids, integrades, and morphs. It was Mustang's thread, so I didn't want to hijack it. I figured it would be interesting, so I made my own thread about it.

Here is the debate so far. Please do not participate in the debate on the thread below!

There you go. Please state your opinions in a reasonable, non aggressive manner.

I have no problem with hybrids some of them are cool looking and a good amount of corn snake morphs were made by hybridizing.Corn snakes were the first snakes kept and are kind of what built the hobby to be what it is today. So, hybrids are not such a bad thing, if you dont like em then dont buy em.

A carpall (carpet python x ball python)? They are pretty cool... The only ball python-like animal I would buy...

They've produced a lot of neat herps with hybridizing, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

I have no problem with hybrids, but if people make to many there could be no pure animals left in, say 50 years for some species. So as long as there are some pure strains left, it is just fine with me. Only some are actually hybrids, because a hybrid is an animal incapable of reproducing.

Not all hybrids are incapable of reproducing actually...in fact a lot of hybrid snakes are very capable of it and some hybrid projects are working on second or third generations now both from hybrid parents.
Carpondros and borneo bat eaters are some of my favorites!
As long as people label them for what they are it isn't a problem. I don't see why anyone hybridizing would play them down to be a pure animal anyways because hybrids generally sell for more.

Everything should stay pure. The reason for the hobby is to better understand these animals, Not to breed them to things that'll never meet for millennia. If you wanna get to plate tectonics and that stuff, Find a way to live forever, Than when they naturally meet get a W/C one that is NATURAL.
