ReptileChannel Moderator (11/4/2009) The answer is listed in our rules section.
I apologize, I've just read over the Rules a number of times and have not found where I have violated any of them.

You haven't. It's difficult for us to know if new members are here to stay and participate, or are just spamming for another site. You had two posts and one had a link. We removed the link until we know that you are not just on here to spam for another site. Just how we do it.

| Don't worry- I'm not about to jump into something I'm not prepared for any time soon. I completely understand what a dedication monitors are. Actually, I'm planning on getting an Ackies monitor instead as my first monitor- I hear that, although they're not as available as Savs, they make great first monitors.

I would heartily recommend that. The caging and feeding requirements for Ackies are far less than for a Savannah monitor. The upfront cost on an Ackie is higher, but it will even out and cost you less over the long haul. Personality-wise, they are fantastic animals to keep and I don't think you will be disappointed.
One thing to keep in mind is that Ackies are also a burrowing species. You will need some nice deep soil/sand substrate that will hold a burrow. Good luck and have fun.

Reptiles magazine 2009 annual has a great article on Ackies on page 88-95. It is called "Awesome Ackies!" and has a lot of great info.
