| This is aimed at the writer of this topic: Do you feed your snake in it's cage? If so, you might want to reconsider after this. A hungry snake is going to associate you sticking your hand in it's cage for feeding time. You are 98.6 degrees, and many boas and pythons have heat sensor pits. Thus, your hand was mistaken for food. I would strongly suggest you feed your snake in a tub or even a room if you can do that. Otherwise, you're going to risk getting bit again... When I was working many long hours, I decided that it wouldn't matter if I fed my snakes (a ball python and a brazilian rainbow boa) in their cages. I was too tired/lazy to take them out. All good right? After a few close calls of getting taged by both of them, I decided that no matter how tired I am, I was feeding them in seperate containers. No matter the size or temperment of the snake, feed it in a container OUTSIDE of it's cage.

| We have 10 burmese pythons. There is a valuable lesson to learn here. We have a special (large second bathroom) room to feed our snakes. This room is great, as we can thoroughly clean and disinfect after each feeding - it's completely tiled. WE NEVER FEED THEM IN THEIR ENCLOSURE. They know that when they go into that room, they are going to get something to eat. NOT when we open their enclosure or tanks. To date, I have never been bitten by my burms. Here are a couple of pics:
