I am thinking of getting either a green iguana or a leopard gecko. i have done all my research on both of them and know where i could get both of them(i would get them from a breeder not from petco or petsmart). i am leaning more towards a green iguana just because i like bigger animals. right now i have a Chinese water dragon... that is a little over a foot long.
Does one adapt better to humans than the other? i understand that a iguana would be more hard to take care of(mostly because of the size difference). i also understand that they are two completely different animals.

That is not true at all.  Leopard geckos do not get lonely; in fact, they prefer to be kept alone.

If you really want to get a green iguana, you should truthfully answer these questions.
-Are you prepared to provide an extremely large hand- or custom-built enclosure or an entire room for your iguana to live in?
-Do you have the time and money to chop up pounds of fruits, vegetables, and other plant matter every week?
-Are you experienced and patient enough to deal with agressive six-foot lizards for half the year (during the breeding season)?
-Do you have the money to pay for twelve hours of a lot of heat (they need large basking areas) and an array of lighting?

If you could honestly answer 'yes' to these questions, then you could possibly do well with an iguana.

Good luck finding a captive bred iguana. Have you found someone who breeds them?. As far as I know all iguanas are wild caught or hatched on farms in south america. They arrive here stressed, dehydrated and loaded with internal parasites. Any new iguana needs a vet visit.

Green iguanas are extremely demanding captives requiring extremely large enclosures and a high level of specific care. Asking whether you should get a leopard gecko or a green iguana in terms of difficulty of care is like asking whether you should get a 20 shot Kodak cardboard camera from the drug store or a $2000 Canon digital SLR.

Well said, shadowboxing. I've kept them both, and Green Iguanas are a monumental amount of time, expense and work compared to a Leopard Gecko - which I consider to be a "low maintenance" lizard.

you should get a leopard gecko simply because they dont get that big..you would need to buy a huge cage for the iguana when it gets big, or make one yourself..they can reach up to lenghts of six feet..it depends on if you have the room for the animal..think to yourself, do i have room for a big iguana cage? iguanas have more of an attitude and will bite..nbut its all up to you.that was just my opinion

2 Leopard Geckos- Ben, Jasper

2 African Fat-Tailed Geckos- Cecelia, Aleksandria

2 Crested Geckos- Leealo, Lola

3 Fire Bellied Toads- Reznov, Demetry, Jorje

1 Green Anole- Jasper

1 Betta Fish- Cicil
