I am going to be breedng a few species soon, starting with Ball Pythons.  I live in Suffolk, VA.  Does anyone happen to know if VA requires small-time breeders to have any form of special licensing or registration?  I have never done anything like this before, but it came up in conversation recently, and I am just wondering so I can be prepared.  Thank you all!

Hey,

I live rather near where you do (I live in VA too), and as long as you are doing it through your house, and only breeding small snakes (like ball pythons), it is legal. If you start to get big (i.e. breeding retics and burms, getting a building, etc), then you will need a permit. If you are just doing it for fun/expierience, it should be fine.
