I went to the Repticon this past June and it was awesome!  I also went to the ETHS (East Texas Herpetological Society) expo and it was really good too!  There is also a HARKA (Houston Area Reptile Keepers Association) expo this weekend I might go too, but that's for sure.  I however am definitely going to the Repticon this March.

My pets aren't just pets, they are family.

My wife and I went and it was quite awesome. Didn't much care for the guy that had the gators dressed up as Santa and Ms Santa and charging people to take pix, or the guy on the back row that tried to tell me that Day Gecko's could be housed with my Crested Gecko. He needs to do some research on that one. But my favorite booth was BigFatGecko.com. The lady that we talked with was very informative and knew her Gecko's. We got alot of info from her regarding when we should start to be able to tell the sex of our little crestie.

Repticon is where I got my first and second reptiles. I go every time they are in town; it is my treat for myself. It's interesting to interact with species you'd not normally see in pet shops or the big box stores. It is not just snakes, it's lizards, monitors, geckos, and turtles/tortoise. There's also creepy crawlies, spiders, scorpions, sometimes beetles and millipedes for sale. I challenge myself to go near the spiders and tarantulas to help me get over my bloody fear of 'em.

Seminars are offered. You get grand deals on various supplies from substrate to enclosures, heaters and live plants. Shucks I get stuff for my garden as much as I do for my snake! Feeder frozen and live mice/rats as well as buggies are available. Plus, you get to chat with other folks who love these animals.

Cheers, Meg
