After 6 years, I'm finally fed up with crickets. They're stinky, noisy, expensive, and I cannot get them to breed. I'm going to try roaches. What species would you recommend, and what are the basics?

Definitely Dubia roaches. They are live bearers so you don't have to worry about eggs when breeding. They can't climb, fly, jump and don't smell. They will readily reproduce on their own (and don't eat their young) when temperatures are above 85. They can live for over a year so you don't have to worry about them dying before you feed them off. They are the perfect adult size for an adult bearded dragon and their babies are small enough to feed to hatchling bearded dragons. They are easy to come by (except in Florida, where they are illegal) and cheaper than hissing cockroaches. Lobster roaches may be cheaper, but they can climb glass. Always Dubia roaches. If you need a supplier, I can give you the website of the guy I use. He's local to Arizona, but will ship anywhere (except Florida).

3.2 Bearded Dragons (Spyro, Gyra, Smaug, Lyra & Alicia Rose)
1.2 Gold Dust Day Geckos (Krypto, Fluora and Rubi)
1.1 Frilled Lizards (Sam & Jess)
0.0.1 Sulcata (Rigby)
0.1 Veiled Chameleon (Radiya Jabeen)

Would the juveniles be small enough for an adult grenn anole?

The beauty of roaches is that you can get any size feeder you need. In the case of dubia, any nymph less than 1/2" is fair game. Just when you feed dubia, you must do so in a dish. They will burrow into the substrate within seconds otherwise.

Yes the baby roaches are small enough for a green anole, they are smaller than crickets. The adults do get really big, so you need a bearded dragon size lizard to eat them, but if you're breeding you'll want to keep them around anyway. I keep a ratio of 3:1 females to males and only feed off the excess males. They are slow growers so they stay small for a long time after they are born.
