I recomend a sinaloan milk snake, they're not to big about 3 feet you can house them in a 20 gallon aquarium as adults. You can find them for about $50.00-$80.00. Not to mention they are beautiful, and in my opinion the best of the milk snakes.

Behold I Send you as Sheep in the midst of wolves:be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves Matthew 10:16

King snakes also fit into this, their about the same as a milk snake though. Ball pythons are the most docile of the snakes mentioned here, but the ones that are $35.00 are usually wild-caught, and I don't recomend them as I found out the hard way how bad it is to keep a wc snake. Also bps are a little bit harder to take care of. They are easily stressed so you can't hold them alot. I'm not saying their bad snakes though, if you check my sig you can see I've got one. Mine's cb though, and she cost me $99.00.

How about a western hognose? Iv'e had mine since she was 3weeks old and have never had a problem.(she'e 6 months old now}. They are easy to handle ,eat like little pigs, and only reach 2 to 3ft. Just be sure that it's feeding on mice and not toads, when you get it.

i'd go with corns. they are absolutely the perfect beginning reptile. their needs are few and easily met, also they come in dozens of dazzling color and pattern morphs. on top of that, they are hardy and easy to breed.

andy, you're overpaying for your corns. last year i sold normals for $15 ea, anerys for $20 ea, hypos for $20 ea, and ghosts for $30 ea. this year i will be adding amels to that lineup which will go for $20 ea.

i totallly agree with you that milksnakes are awesome snakes. i currently have 1.1 apricot pueblan milks. sinoalans, albino nelsoni, and anery hondos are near the top of my 'must have' list. right behind some of the corn morphs i don't already have

I don't want to sound repetative, but you can't go wrong with the corn snakes. Balls are nice, but loose their luster after awhile. At least in my case. Have fun with your new pet.
