I started at 7, when me and my brother found a RES hatchling, with a carapace no more than 1.5 inches. We did surprisingly well caring for it, and it grew to about 9 inches until we let it go in a neighbors pond. Then, we had three more turtles, all very healthy. We got another type of herp, our 1st lizards, a pair of green anoles. After that, we got a turtle named Will. Finally, we got a beardie. Other animals are A leopard frog, like 40 tadpoles, 3 of which succesfully turned into green tree frogs, the rest were bull frogs& lepoardfrogs. The tree frogs only took 2-3 days to go from tadpoles with no limbs to no-tail tree frogs. amazing.

I live for what Steve Irwin stood for. If the world was full of people like him, it would be a better place.

Well my family has an anual vacation spot in Northern Wisconsin. They're all they kids would spend hours each night catching frogs and toads (and if we were really lucky, garter snakes.) A few times we would take home some of our catch. It was on a petstore run to feed our new family pets when I saw a $50 set up with 2anoles and 1treefrog. I quickly became fixated on such as a birthday present which wasn't untill next summer. Well the day rolled around and I had the challenge of my frist real pets, but again, they did not sruvive the summer. It was in the fall of 2000 when I happened to walk into a petstore and walked out with a young chinese water draogn. Sheru was a beloved pet and the first that truly sparked my un-wavoring passion for keeping repitles. Soon after her came a Leo and a BP, next thing I know people were giving me animals and it just went on from there. ~ Rex

I used to catch western fence lizards an put them in a ten gal long enough for my dad to bring home a couple of crickets so i could watch them feed. Then that elevated to getting a snake and that took me to where I am now.

I'm a relatively new to liking snakes I had a bad experience with a copperhead when I was 5. Then last year my boyfriend brought home Jay he's a ball python. It took me a while but now we have 9 of them and I love them all. My old fear has completely disappated and I can't wait to add more herps to our growing family

That is good that you are no longer afraid of snakes.

Anoles are like icecream. They can be sweet but, will give you brain freeze with all their strange behaviors.
