I have noticed at ground zero that there is a small poppulation of northern leopard frogs. But the migority of them if not all of the stay in large portion of the pond that i callthe hide out. The hide out consits of tall grasses growing in and around the pond. There, frogs ( that i have yet to catch and identify) hide far away from the shore of the water. I have spotted on numerous accasions baby leopard frogs. But what stomps me is this question ( where are the adults?) I know why the babys are there, becouse there green coloring brakes up there out line and the ponds top (known preaditor, the bull frog) won't be abile to see and eat them. In fact, these things are so figity that when i try to catch them, they dart away before i can get my net on them. I know that there had to be adults at one time but there are no more. Possibally out competed for food  and territory buy the bull frog. And they left there babys in the hide out to grow and possibally out compete the destructive bull frog.

My second and last bit of imfo is this. I have been obserbing the bull frog that i call shadow. So far, this is what i know, (he is at least 10in long, black in color, hangs out in and around the hide out, and is supremmly intelegent, And he is male) BUt some of his bacic traits like his color are not natual to a bull frog. And even his size is a record. So, i have only one more suspect to shadows identity. The goliath forg. If this is true, then shadow could have escaped as a baby from a zoo or pet store or even a herp owner. once he escaped into the pond, he survived by being smarter than humans and other frogs and laying under the sadar. I think that he hanhs out in and near the hide out becouse of the other large frog in the pond. Shadow probily escaped as a baby or juvinile. Smaller than the native frogs, he struiled to survive everyday. But, he found a sence of safty and solotude in thee hide out. Now a adult, he still carryes that fear of being eaten by a frog bigger than him. Even though, he is the largest.

So, what do you think, any flaws in this imfo?

They call me the casmatic amigma. They call me jeff hardy.

A goliath frog would be much bigger and there is a very very low chance of it being where it is. Bull frogs can get bigger than yours and there are ones that get that color too, I know because I have seen frogs with those traits.

As for the leopards, the parents would mate in the pond and lay the eggs but that might just be the breeding pond they could live in another.

1.0.1 leopard gecko (Athena and Apollo)
0.0.1 occelated skink (Zahara)

Guys, i know that the goliath frog gets bigger ( 16in or so) but herp dude, the largest frog that i have actually cought in that pond was a 8in male. Now the record bull frog was 8in. Meaning that they rarely if ever get over 8in.  Shadow is at least 9in long. That is a little big for a bullie dont you think? But you need to remember these facts:

bull frogs are the largest frogs in north america and max out at 8in long. ( the largest bull frog in the pond is a 8in male named monstra.)

Goliath frogs are the largest frog in the world and get 16in max.

The golith frog can come in a dark almost blackish color

and shadow is a blackish color and at least 9in long.

These are some of the possbally many facts that we must consider.

Still flaws, here are some other things to consider....

Have you accurately measured those frogs?

Goliaths are endangered and I do not think they are in the pet trade anymore

They are hard to keep in captivity, and very very hard if not at all possible to breed. Your frog would not be that old so it really have to be a CB frog or WC, but thats pretty much impossible.

And finally goliath frog inhabit fast flowing streams, why pick a non flowing pond, the habitat of the american bullfrog, instead of its natural habitat.

This is extremely unlikely, almost impossible.

Yes, they dont exist in the pet trade anymore. Possibally, shadow is a reminate of a small poppulation of escaped goliath frogs. In fact, there is a stream  surounded by a wooded area near the pond. But that still dosent explain why the frog (if he is a golith frog) would faver a pond over a stream. And yes, i have measured those frogs. But i am estemating  shadows size. He is very smart and has been abile to out wit me at every turn.

They call me the casmatic amigma. They call me jeff hardy.

Thats the key word, estimate. And a population of goliath's going to your pond is just 0.0000001% likely. Do you have any world renowned collectors in the area? A zoo would certainly not easily allow escape and then they would find it. And this is not the goliath's habitat at all, they would die after the winter, and then the thought of them reproducing is again impossible.
I think all you have there is a bullfrog, it meets the description in all parts.
