I am trying to decide between a few herps to get (see my signature) and two of them are 1.1 Skunk Geckos (Gekko vittatus) and 1.1 Madagascar Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis) to breed. I am not worried about profit or anything. Just breaking even would be great, this would be just for fun and I know I could find homes for all the babies. I would house the parents in an 18 x 18 x 24 enclosure (either species) and make sure they had great husbandry. I was just wondering which would be better or more fun to breed? I am not worried about money, but I don't want a gecko that every batch of eggs is infertile. And how would I breed and house the hatchlings of each of these species? What do you think?

Haha, never mind. I decided on the 1.1 Madagascar Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis), but could you still give me some help on breeding them, raising the hatchlings, and selling them. Thanks.

I've heard that the Day Geckos that are easy to keep (Madagascar Giant, Gold Dust, and Standing's) are also easy to breed. But my mom doesn't like the idea of breeding, it "creeps her out" so I'll get either 0.1 Mali Uromastyx (Uromastyx maliensis) or 1.0 Kenyan Sand Boa (Eryx colubrinus). But thanks for your help anyway.

That wouldn't seem like a good idea if you did that. Putting something from Southeastern US with something from Madagascar would be quite difficult. But you could put a Gold Dust in a 10 gallon or a 12 x 12 x 18.

I would like to get a crested gecko, but I wouldn't have anywhere to put it & my parents wouldn't let me get one.

| I'm sure everyone is familiar with giant day geckos, but for anyone wondering what a skunk gecko is, here's one below. I'd always heard them referred to as 'white-lined' or 'oceanic' geckos myself. The name 'skunk gecko' implies that they can give off a stinky odor. Hmmmmm..... I've never noticed that when handling them.
