Hey, guys, I haven't been around in a while. I see a few new names in the forums. Hello to all the newbies!

So, If you all remember my post about a month ago about going & helping a frien w/ her leo & the shed problem.....well I now have the leo. My friend called me last night at her witts end w/ this leo, so she gave it to me. It shed again & I see that it still has some stuck on it's feet. I'll work on that tomorrow. But she says it won't eat. I only seen it once before, but I think it might be a little thinner than before. She's still far from being skin & bones. She has tried supers, crix, wax & meal worms. The leo won't touch any of them. Her substrate is vita-sand. She has a hide at both ends of the 20gal long tank. She has been putting a red bulb on at night & a white one on during the day for heat. I read that having the white one on might be a stresser. Is this true? Should I only be using the red one at all times? I'm not sure of the exact temps because she only has one of the sticky gauges in the middle of the tank. That's another thing I have to work on tomorrow. What should the temps be on the hot & cool end? The bottom line is....I'm clueless when it comes to leos & I need some help.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My pets...1 green tree frogs, 1 brown anole, 1 fire belly toad, 1 Cuban tree frog, 3 veiled chameleons, 3 dogs, 2 cats , 1 hamster, 1 guinea pig, 2 leopard geckos, 1 chinchilla, 1 house gecko,1 love bird ,1 parakeet, 1 box turtle, 2 beautiful children & it keeps growing!!!

Hey,
Well first off get him off the sand and put him on cage carpet or paper towel.
UM get rid of sticky thermometers and get digital you can go to petsmart or petco and get good reliable digital gauges for 10 bucks. I choose to keep only red lights on all the time bright light can stress them out and i have noticed since i got rid of the lights my leos have been out sleeping more instead of hiding. The temps should be about 87-89 degrees on the hotside and 80-82 on the coolside. I use a combination of a heat pad and a lamp to get the correct temps. Of course the heat pad is on a thermostat. Keep trying crickets that are the size between its eyes and monitor for its poop and if it is make sure it doesn't look funny. If it doesn't eat one day just keep trying if it starts to loose weight take it to the vet to get force fed and that will hopefully stimulate the appetite. But before you do that put some warm not hot water in a pan that only goes up to the leos knees and have it soak in it for 20 minutes 2 times a day. Because if it is impacted from the sand that should help or sometimes it can help stimulate the appetite. Make sure to give it clean fresh water every day. Um cant think of anything else at the moment. Let us know if you need anymore help.

well gecko gave some good advice so do you have a small bowl of calcium powder in the cage & if he starts to lose wieght then you can always try to feed him a pinkie & i use the zoo med tape on thermometers placed in the center of the tank & i've never had a problem but,i'm considering a temp gun

Yes day old pinkies would be great to get him to eat if it is full grown. Thank you for mentioning the calcium bowl.

Do I just use the same calcium that I use to dust the crix for my chams? They just eat it out of the bowl?

As long as it is plain calcium and has no D3 in it you sure can.
