it is a good spot to bask thats why we go there to look for turtles. one time when we went up there and there was a guy with a bucket with 2 crayfish,fish,frogs, and a baby turtle! he said he was gonna put them in a big tank........ Sad

The turtles in your VERY LARGE PICS look like northern map turtles, Graptemys geographica. What river were they photographed in? What state were you in? Can you tell us anything else about the experience, like how close were you when the pics were taken?; map turtles are pretty skittish and seldom let you approach very closely. Your shot of the big female (with the thick head) is quite good considering you were probably far away.

We appreciate your post, and would urge you to submit more. Adding some details to your post will give viewers something else to comment about besides 'Nice pics'.
