I would say, hmmmm, probably an anaconda. Like you said, definantly a large snake that gets a bad rap.

I would agree..Anaconda..and as far as the movies go, just remember it's only a movie. I own both of them, and I think they both rock!

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. 'Over-rated', meaning in unpredictability and aggression?
If that's the case, I personally would place the Green Anaconda as very high on that aggression list. Heck man, even captive born greens are totally unreliable, almost completely unpredictable animals. They are never considered 'tamed', nor should they ever merit the title 'handleable'.
For probably over 99 percent of the public, this species of snake is NOT suitable for keeping in captivity. And wild caught ones? Fuggedaboutit, man!!!
Anyway, just about ALL large sized, (And a lot of little ones to!) wild snakes, are gonna try to put a whuppin' on you if you mess with them out there. Natural selection? The meaner, more wily ones of the species probably live long enough in the wild to breed.
Nope. No signature for me today, thanks.....

The way I understand it there is no such thing as a poisonous snake, either venomous or non venomous, do you have poisonous snakes in the states.

The guy above me is right. No poisonous snakes in the US, just venomous. Sorry if I sound like a know-it-all. :OAnyways, most overrated non venomnous snake is definitely the anaconda. Thanks to that movie, most people think that it comes hunting for humans when that's not the case at all!

| Though not large like the anaconda I'd add that both the green tree pythons and emerald tree boas are greatly exaggerated as to how mean and dangerous they are. These are relatively small snakes, and do have larger teeth for their size than others but they still are no comparison for the size of teeth in an adult snake of a much larger species overall. The majority of captive bred specimens of these species are as docile as any redtail or ball python.
