Does anyone watch Wale Wars on Animal Planet? I saw it for the first time a few days ago. I find it amazing that Animal Planet is airing footage of obvious eco-terrorism. I plan on watching a few more episodes to realy get grip on it. Thoughts? Opinions?

It's about The Sea Sheppard Conservation Society, a radical animal rights group that are determined to "save the whales." They harass and intimidate Japanese whaling ships to keep them from killing whales even though they are within their legal rights to do so.

It is legal in Japan to kill a limited amount of whales for scientific research. Japan says that they are doing nothing wrong. The Sea Sheppard claims that the "research" is just a smoke screen for commercial whaling. Even if Japan is in the wrong, these nuts are have no legal power to do anything, so they harass the fleet in waters that out out of Japan's jurisdiction to escape prosecution. That's it in a nutshell.

I hate how they named their ship The Steve Irwin, I mean sure I didn't agree with everything he did; but here are some facts

He wasn't vegan

In an interview with Scientific America he was asked, "Have you ever considered becoming a vegetarian?".

Steve Irwin responded, "I went through a big stage of my life where I thought, you know, maybe it would be better to be a vegetarian, so I researched it. In no uncertain terms did I research it. Let's say this represents one cow, which will keep me in food for, let's say, a month. Now that cow needs this much land and food. Well, you can imagine, that cow needs x by x amount of land, and you can grow trees in it. Around that cow, you can have goannas, kangaroos, wallabies. You can have every other single Australian animal in and around that cow. If I was a vegetarian, to feed me for that month, I need this much land, and nothing else can grow there. Herein lies our problem. If we level that much land to grow rice and whatever, then no other animal could live there except for some insect pest species. Which is very unfortunate."

I doubt he would be on a ship that has been known to sink ships (off the air of course)

He had morals and if that didn't stop him his reputation would

The correct thing for them to do would be to attempt toget Japan to change the laws. If it is endangering whales then it should be stopped ( all be it, without means so radical). If the whales are being kept at a safe number then whats the difference from fishing??? I have a sad doubt this is not the case though.
